Top speed in sand

I just got back from a trip to the dunes over the holiday weekend and I was wondering, what is a realistic expectation for top speed in the sand? I was on the south end of little Sahara in Oklahoma throttle held to the floor and can't seem to get over 50 mph is this normal? I should mention that the machine is all stock 09 "S" with Douglas doonz all around. Thanks in advance
