I finally got everything around, and warm enough temps, to start rebuilding my S motor that I blew in the fall. I had to do some horse trading for a motor that needed rebuilt due to bad balance shaft journals, but new journals/bearings/seals are waaaaaaay cheaper than a long block. I have the crank and balance shaft in, but when I put the timing gears on, time by the dimples, and check rotation, I can not get through a full revolution (in either direction) without the connecting rods hitting the lobes on the balance shaft. What do I have wrong here?! The balance shaft, crank, and cam are the ones that came out of the case, the gear set is not. I haven't dug in to the serial number on the side of the case to see if I can find it's year of manufacture, but it does have the cam phase sensor hole, so I assumed I was good to go. Anybody able to chime in?
