Oh man boost is one thing but nailing a clutch down where it needs to be is better than raping telephone poles. (Something pubescent boys do when the girls aren't cooperating around here) :rofl3:

Anyway. I was at 13 pounds of boost and some of you will recall me having problems with the engine backfiring and generally making life miserable when the throttle was floored. I' m no sure why but on a whim I added 4.666 grams to the middle weights on the primary clutch arms and another gram to the tip. I had noticed the rpm was flashing really fast to 6200 rpm on initial takeoff and feared it was hitting the rev limiter causing the popping. It worked to make that story short

What it also did was make light throttle applications feel really sluggish. I added a pound of boost and it made no difference so that went back where it was

Today in an effort to see if I could bring back the part throttle liveliness I had seen before I made changes. Some had posted a link to a manual on tuning cvt's on sleds so I read it till my brain popped a little bubble of thought..

The middle weights seem to have all the effects on light throttle running and the manual showed in the charts how the tip and mid weights work together to make power work at the upper rpm range and how the tips have more to do with mid range power than I understood.
Anyway I was stuck on maintaining a certain rpm at each speed range and was lost to the effects my clutch tuning was having on my orgasmically boosted state. I took that 4.666 grams back out of the middle weights to see if it would make light throttle power better. FYI. Bringing this range back allows me to make really good power without having to go to full throttle to get to higher boost. I.E. I can pull the really steep dunes at half throttle and it accelerates really hard(er) at lower boost than before.
I also added a gram to the tips. I was concentrating on full boost tuning and had completely lost sight of normal cruising. The effects are many but don't ask me why. I have an idea that has to do with my ill fantasy about the engine now having to work harder and using all the fuel the controller was set up for. A/f ratios completely changed. Throughout the rpm range. The simple change in clutch weight leaned out an engine I was having problems with running rich in most places

I'm headed to Waynoka in the morning and will get to do some tuning and some video. The end result in power is phenomenal not just the power at part throttle but the smooth rush of power that doesn't waver or stop till it hits the 65 mph I could hit on the short stretch of road I can play on near the house. Tomorrow I get to see how it affects top end on sand and I promise to post video of it.

It's so much fun to have these moments of clarity at my age. :rofl3:
