cracked engine case/mount

I was changing my oil on my 2012 xp900 a few days ago and noticed this. Upsetting to say the least. Right about 52 hrs on machine/600 miles. I have owned it for 10 months. I do not jump or beat on my machine. I do drive it and enjoy it. Going to try to have the cracks welded. Welder shop feels confident he can tig weld it. he said it would be prone to cracking again. Other option is replacement of case halves or different motor.
I am trying to understand what are the possible causes that lead to this? Did the factory set something wrong? Could the dealer have caused this when they removed the trans/diff to fix the leak under warranty? Is there an adjustment or something I need to check? I just want to make sure its right so it doesn't happen again.
I have read of a few cases of this on here. I always thought "it won't happen to me"... And yes I have NO warranty left.
I know Polaris has changed the design somewhat every year for whatever reason. Doesn't matter here, as I am left holding the "bag".
I need to remove the clutch covers to get the bolt out so he can weld the cracks. Looks like a alignment bolt to me. Once removed what is the process of setting it up right upon reassembly?
